Questions families ask first

Getting started

How quickly can care start?

Most families go from first call to first visit within 24 hours. If you need care sooner, after a hospital discharge for example, call us and we'll do our best to start within 24 hours.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

Visits start at 4 hours, from once a week. You can add hours, move to live-in care or pause care at any time.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. We ask for one week's notice to stop or reduce care, and that's it.

What happens at the home assessment?

A registered nurse visits for about an hour. They meet your loved one, look at the home for safety risks such as loose rugs or poor lighting, and write a care plan with you. The assessment is free.

Cost and payment

How much does home care cost?

It depends on the type of care and the number of hours each week. After the consultation you'll get a written quote with an hourly rate, with no signup fee and no hidden charges.

How can I find out which services are available?

Our team can help you understand our available care options and identify services that may suit your needs.

Can care be customized to my needs?

Every individual has different needs. Our team works with clients and their families to understand their preferences and arrange appropriate support. Availability of specific services depends on the care offered by APEX.

Caregivers

How do you choose caregivers?

Every aide holds a current New Jersey CHHA certification and passes an interview, reference checks, a criminal background check and our own training before their first visit. Nurses hold a current New Jersey license.

Will it be the same caregiver every time?

Wherever possible, yes. Each client has one main caregiver and a backup who also knows them, so cover during sickness or holidays is still a familiar face.

What if we don't get on with the caregiver?

Tell us and we'll introduce someone new, usually within 48 hours, at no extra cost.

Are caregivers insured?

Yes. Our caregivers are our employees, not contractors, and they're covered by our liability insurance and workers' compensation.

Still have questions?

A care coordinator is happy to talk it through, with no obligation.
